Great Podcast Interview with Will Kimbrough

I can’t believe I stumbled on to a Podcast Interview with Will Kimbrough. He talks about imitating heros, his day job as a session guitarist, and his part-time creative partner, Jimmy Buffett. The two songs Will performs are worth the price of admission…FREE, it’s the Internet!

The King of Somewhere Hot

In the heady early years of the budding romance between Jimmy Buffett and Key West, Jimmy tested his early musical efforts in the Chart Room. On many of those occasions, Jimmy was joined by Jim Croce, Chicago’s Steve Goodman, and Bone Fishing Guide Vaughn Cochran. While many of us have lovingly referred to Greg “Fingers” Taylor as the Original Coral Reefer, Vaughn also carried this prestigious moniker….at least in Key West. And where Fingers is known for his Harp playing, Vaughn’s specialty was the “Washboard.”

Anyway, I ran into a guy at an art show today, and he’s a friend of Vaughns and informed me Vaughn has an establishment right here in my new home town of Jacksonville. And you know me…I was immediately on my laptop doing my research. I even remember writing an article in the past that include info on Vaughn. For those who like to do their own research, check out Vaughn’s Web Site and his The Black Fly Outfitter Blog . While I was reading Vaughn’s Blog, I ran across this video. If it doesn’t get you in the mood to be the King of Somewhere Hot, I don’t know what will!

Be sure to stop back by, because in the true Seven Degrees of Jimmy Buffett, we’ll be learning more about my upcoming visit with Vaughn

It’s All Part of Being a 21st Century Parrothead

I’m beginning to think that if you’re not on Twitter, you’re not a 21st Century PH. Twitter lead me to a surprise concert as Bubba stopped by his sister’s restaurant, LuLu’s down in Gulf Shores this past Wednesday. Man, can you imagine sitting down for dinner and seeing Buffett and the Coral Reefers take the stage unannounced?

Anyway, as I walked into my hotel room after work, I checked my Twitter account (using TweetDeck of course) and noticed some of my friends “Tweeting” that you could join Jimmy at LuLu’s on Radio Margaritaville. Now, it wasn’t quite as cool as seeing Jimmy when he showed up on Greene St. in Key West for his 1st ever MOTM appearance, but it was pretty damn cool.

So, if you want to be a 21 Century PH of the highest caliber, get your ass on Twitter. You won’t miss any of the fun! And when you do, follow @ClubStSomewhere. Jimmy and many of the Reefers are hanging out there too…See you there.
